The funeral service for Glyndon L. West will be at 11:00AM, Friday, June 28, 2013 in the Timothy Chapel of Autumn Ridge Church with the Pastor Bill Price officiating.  Visitation will be 5:00PM – 8:00PM, Thursday, June 27, 2013 in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home and one prior to the service at the church on Friday.  Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery.

Mr. West, 82, of Rochester, died Tuesday, June 25, 2013 at Cottagewood Senior Community in Rochester.

Glen was born on June 27, 1930 in Rochester.  He was raised in Rochester and served in the US Army in Germany during the Korean Conflict.  After military service, he graduated from Mankato State College with a teaching degree.  He later worked for home builder George Alexander and eventually owned his own home building company, G.L. West Builders.

He married Joann E. Dodge on January 31, 1959 in Rochester.  Mrs. West was a retired phy-ed teacher and homemaker at the time of her death.  She passed away on September 15, 2004.

Glen  is survived by two sons; Tim A. (Janice) West of Boston, MA, Corey J. (Laura) West of Stewartville; one daughter, Colleen (Jeff) Hanson of Milwaukee, WI; three grandchildren, Samuel A. West, deployed to Afghanistan, Sarah A. and Jacob S. West both of Stewartville. He is also survived by two sister-in-laws, Elaine West and Muriel West, both of Rochester. Glen was preceded in death by his wife and two brothers.

Glen was past president of the Rochester Home Builders Association, a member of the Rochester Racing Pigeon Club and the Isaac Walton League.  He enjoyed activities with the History Center of Olmsted County.
