Gerald "Jerry" Lehnherr, 81, of Rochester, MN died Tuesday, December 4th, 2012 at Golden Living Center East. Jerry was born July 10, 1931 in Minneapolis, MN to John and Lenore Lehnherr. He graduated from Lourdes High School in 1949. Jerry was in the Korean War in the 44th Army Engineers "Broken Heart" Battalion and has been active in the yearly reunion of the group. On Sept 25, 1954 he married Derla Jean Arbogast in New Hampton, Iowa and they resided in Rochester, MN. After his marriage, he worked for the City of Rochester Fire Department, 1955 to 1979, where he became captain.
He is survived by his wife, Derla Jean, his 2 sons – Paul (Cindy) of Jackson, GA and Pat (Cheryl) of Savage, MN and his 2 daughters – Therese (Dan) Serres of Clackamas, OR and Diane (Tracy) Vig of St. Louis Park, MN, sister, Darlene (George) Caflisch of Rochester; 16 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his mother, step-father (Paul Baumgardt), 2 brothers (James and John), 2 sisters (Donna Clark and Dorothea), half brother (Donald), half sister (Gene), son (Joseph) and daughter (Suzanne).
He looked forward to fishing trips to Canada and fall pheasant hunting trips to South Dakota with sons and grandsons.
The memorial mass for Gerald "Jerry" Lehnherr will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 8 at the Macken Funeral Home River Park Chapel . Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Rochester. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, December 7 at the Macken Funeral Home River Park Chapel and for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
