A funeral Mass for Genevieve Sursely will be held at 10:30AM, Monday, August 19, 2013 at St. Pius X Catholic Church with the Rev. Paul Nelson officiating.  Visitation will be 2:00PM – 5:00PM, Sunday, August 18, 2013 in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home and one hour prior to the Mass on Monday.  Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery.

Genevieve Helen Sursely, 90 of Rochester, died Thursday, August 15, 2013 at St. Marys Hospital.

Genevieve Carrick was born December 31, 1922 on the family farm near Clarissa Minnesota.  She married Edward Sursely on February 13, 1945 at New Poet News, Virginia. Ed owned the Crossroads Barber Shop Rochester. He passed away april 23, 1996. Genevieve and Ed were owners of the Galley Restaurant in Lake City, which they later sold in the 1990's.

She enjoyed playing 500 card games with the residents at REALIFE, bingo and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Family was very important to her. Genevieve was always the loving and caring mother to her children and grandchildren.  She loved to cook and was always happy watching others enjoy her meals.  The memories of her quiet strength and gentle beauty will sustain those left behind.

She is survived by four children; Sandy (Dave) Gordon of Gig Harbor, WA, Jim (Jeannie) Sursely of Apopka, FL, Diana (Ron) Hollihan of Rochester and Richard (Michele) Sursely of Rochester; seven grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; one brother, Carol (Shirley) Carrick of Clarissa, one sister, Mary Stephan of Pleasant Hill CA and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, five brothers, three sisters and a granddaughter.
