Gayle Mary Lowrie, born March 21, 1951, in Rochester, MN, passed away September 2, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love and creativity.
She was the daughter of Irvin and Ann (Scholbrock) Elpert, A proud graduate of Lourdes High School, Gayle began her distinguished career at Methodist Hospital, where she served as a prosthetics coordinator for an impressive 45 years before retiring in 2014. Her commitment to her work was matched only by her passion for helping others, evident in her many contributions both in and out of the hospital. Gayle was a talented artisan. Her sewing and quilting skills were renowned, with her handcrafted pieces admired for their beauty and detail. She made surgical bonnets for her coworkers and cancer patients, providing comfort through her thoughtful creations. Her flower arrangements for weddings were also a testament to her artistic flair, bringing joy and elegance to countless celebrations. Gayle enjoyed many weekends away at quilting conventions, always looking to improve her talent.
Her love of teaching and her patience shone through in all her endeavors. Gayle had a passion for travel, whether going on cruises with her sister Karen or taking memorable trips with her husband Timothy to Mackinac Island. Her vibrant spirit was evident in her enjoyment of concerts, especially those featuring her favorite country music. A social butterfly, Gayle cherished her lunch outings with friends and was always eager to share a laugh or a story. Her fierce love for her family was the cornerstone of her life. Gayle's presence will be remembered for its warmth, her generous heart, and her unwavering support for those she loved.
Gayle is survived by her children, LuAnn Hoffmann, Jesse Lowrie; grandchildren, Samantha and Elizabeth and great-grandchildren, Ryker and Brielle. Gayle is also survived by her brother, Dwayn (Mary Ann) Elpert; sisters, Karen Zahradnik, Cheryl (Kevin) Kelly; sister-in-law, Pat Elpert and numerous nieces and nephews. Gayle was preceded in death by her husband, Timothy; brother, Norman Elpert; sisters, Janet (Donald) Toogood, Vivian (Jack) Greening; brother-in-law, James Zahradnik and by her parents, Irvin and Ann.
A funeral service to celebrate Gayle's life will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 10, 2024 at the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home, Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until time of the service. Burial will be at Pleasant Grove Union Cemetery.
