A memorial service for Frederick Gruhlke will be at 11:00AM Thursday, May 8, 2014 in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 5:00pm – 8:00pm Wednesday, May 7, 2014 in the River Park Chapel with a 7:30pm Eagles Memorial Service and also one hour prior to the service on Thursday.
Frederick Ronald Gruhlke, 58 of Rochester died of natural causes at his home on Sunday, May 4, 2014.
Fred was born on December 10, 1955 in Rochester to Frederick and Joann (Beckman) Gruhlke. He graduated from Mayo High School, and then attended Augustana College in Sioux Falls SD and later St. Cloud State University where he played baseball and football.
On January 8, 2002 he married Beth Holmgren. She survives and is a U.S. Postal Service employee.
Fred worked 18 years for the Pepsi Cola Company and later in the construction industry until he began working for the Eagles Club until his retirement.
He is survived by his wife Beth, children, Jennifer (Nick) Roberts of St. Charles, Alexander (Melissa) Gruhlke of Blooming Prairie, Rebecca (Brad) Wheeler of Mantorville, Eric (Katie) Gruhlke of Kasson, Nichole Freeman of Apple Valley, Andrea Freeman of St. Paul and 13 grandchildren. Also surviving are siblings, Cindi (Paul) Poleos of Maryland, Edward (Debbie) Gruhlke of Bellville, IL, Robert (Stacy) Gruhlke of Eagan and Dave Gruhlke of Owatonna. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Mary Jo Larrison Gruhlke.
Fred enjoyed hunting, fishing and watching his children play sports. He was a volunteer football coach for Mayo High School. He also enjoyed bowling and golf.
