Pookie (Francis) Delaney

Pookie peacefully returned to his Lord on April 27, 2020 at the age of 73 losing his battle with cancer with family by his side.

Born in Rochester, MN to Timothy and Mabel Delaney on February 7, 1947.

He Graduated from Lourdes High School in 1965.

Pookie was drafted into the US Army in 1966, completing one tour in Vietnam from 1967 to 1969.  Returning to civilian life, he furthered his education at Dunwoody College of Technology in HVAC, becoming a master plumber, retiring his career with Quality Plumbing.

In May of 1971 he married Marjorie Ryan they later divorced.

He loved the outdoors hunting, fishing and going "up north" to his camper.

He is survived by two sisters or as he addressed them "you girls," Mary Plank (Gary) and Theresa Fogarty (Dan), two nephews Kevin Plank, Jeff Fogarty and three nieces Kelly, Kim, and Chris.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Dennis Delaney, and niece Katie (Plank) Kingsley.

A very special thank you to the many caring staff of Mayo St. Marys 4 Domitilla unit that provided excellent comfort care to Pookie, especially Pam Zimbeck, NP.  They made his journey very peaceful.

There will be a private family service on Saturday, May 2, 2020 at St. Pius X Catholic Church, with the Rev. Russell Scepaniak officiating, followed by internment at Calvary Cemetery. Due to the covid virus, no military honors will be completed.

The family will be hosting a Celebration of Life at a later date.

Memorials are suggested to the American Legion or Lourdes Foundation.

Rest in peace Pook, you are loved and will be missed.
