Everett was born on November 4, 1925, in Clark County, WI, to Theodore and Adeline (Fischer) Humke. He grew up on the family farm, attended school in Greenwood, WI, and enlisted in the United States Navy the day before his eighteenth birthday. Everett served in World War II as a sonar operator on the USS Harry E. Hubbard, a destroyer, in the Pacific theatre.

Following his military service, Everett attended college at UW Stevens Point, graduating with a teaching degree. He taught school in Spencer, WI, and it was through working as a loan collector during the summer months that he eventually transitioned to working in finance and banking. Everett attended banking schools at Columbus, OH, Norman, OK, and UW Madison. He moved to Rochester in 1956 to work at Olmsted County Bank, and later worked at Marquette Bank, Olmsted Federal Savings and Loan and United Financial. He retired from banking in 1986, and worked another three years in mortgage lending at Margaretten Mortgage Corporation before fully retiring.

Everett married the love of his life, Mary Stewart, on August 5, 1949, in a double wedding ceremony with Mary's sister and brother-in-law. They were married for 65 years this past August.

Everett was active in the Exchange Club, The Elks, and the Masonic Lodge. Following retirement he volunteered with Habitat for Humanity. He was an avid golfer and a devoted family man.

Everett is survived by his wife, Mary, daughters, Shelly Glover (Jon), Christie Paulson (Rick), and grandchildren, Grace and Eli Glover. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and five sisters.
