Ernest H. Morris, age 80, died October 19, 2018 at his home in Zumbro Falls, Minnesota.
Ernest was the oldest child of Harold and Muriel Morris born in Rochester on August 17, 1938. He grew up helping out in the family farm. He attended the District 52 county school and graduated high school in 1955. He also went to Letourneau University in Texas where he learned to operate large heavy equipment. Ernest was a heavy equipment operator his whole life, retiring in 1994. Ernest was also in the United States Army in 1957 and left with an honorable discharge.
Ernest loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing and shooting. He had a deep respect for nature. Ernest also loved anything gun related and was a proud NRA gold member and supporter. He loved to help people and helped a lot of them. Whether it was putting people through school or giving the business in Zumbro Falls money after the flood, he helped a lot of people and will be missed by them all.
Ernest is survived by his children, Debbie Coop, Michael Morris, Wendy Bell and Kevin Morris; grandchildren, Joseph Rhodes, Barbara Nelson, Timmothy, Skilyn, and Jada Morris, Ben, Jeff, Brennan and Joshua Coop, David Morris, Wendy and Marisa Bell; and great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his two sisters, Sharon Penz and Arleta Messick both of Rochester.
He is preceded in death by his parents and two sons, Timothy and Daniel Morris.
A burial service will be held at Oakwood Cemetery in Rochester on Wednesday, October 24 at 2:00 p.m. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
