Erika Xiomara Cruz, 18, of Rochester, MN, died Wednesday, February 24, 2021 at St. Marys Hospital.

Erika was born August 22, 2002 in Rochester, MN to Rene and Marcela (Cortez) Cruz. She graduated from Mayo High School in 2020. She was currently a student at the University of St. Thomas, studying Sport and Exercise Science.

She was one of the smartest, loving, caring, passionate, motivated, inspiring, and intelligent people. Erika had big plans for this year and was doing so good in life. She was such an amazing daughter, cousin, friend and such a pure human being. Erika had so much to offer the world and was going to do amazing things in this life. She was so excited to start college and start her fitness page and just do so many things in the world. Please don't take time for granted, we know she would be here taking full advantage of every moment. She was the type of person you could always learn something from.

The world has lost such a beautiful person and pure soul, but the heavens have gained a new angel. We know Erika's in a better place now smiling, laughing and taking care of us. We love you and miss you. Please watch over us and protect us as we go through these times; pour a little bit of yourself into all of us.

Erika is survived by her parents, Rene and Marcela Cruz; and two brothers, Erik and Omar.

The visitation for Erika will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Friday, February 26, 2021 in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home. A private family funeral service will be held. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Rochester, MN.

Erika nació el 22 de agosto de 2002 en Rochester, MN de Rene y Marcela (Cortez) Cruz. Se graduó de Mayo High School en 2020. Actualmente era estudiante en la Universidad de St. Thomas, estudiando Ciencias del Deporte y el Ejercicio.

Era una de las personas más inteligentes, amorosas, cariñosas, apasionadas, motivadas, inspiradoras e inteligentes. Erika tenía grandes planes para este año y le iba muy bien en la vida. Era una hija, prima, amiga increíble y un ser humano tan puro. Erika tenía mucho que ofrecer al mundo e iba a hacer cosas increíbles en esta vida. Estaba tan emocionada de comenzar la universidad y comenzar su página de acondicionamiento físico y hacer tantas cosas en el mundo. Por favor, no dé por sentado el tiempo, sabemos que ella estaría aquí aprovechando al máximo cada momento. Ella era el tipo de persona de la que siempre se podía aprender algo.

El mundo ha perdido a una persona tan hermosa y un alma tan pura, pero los cielos han ganado un nuevo ángel. Sabemos que Erika está en un lugar mejor ahora sonriendo, riendo y cuidándonos. Te amamos y te extrañamos. Por favor, cuídenos y protégenos mientras atravesamos estos tiempos; vierte un poco de ti en todos nosotros.

A Erika le sobreviven sus padres, René y Marcela Cruz; y dos hermanos, Erik y Omar.

La visitación de Erika se realizará a partir de las 14:00 horas. hasta las 6:00 p.m. el viernes 26 de febrero de 2021 en River Park Chapel en Macken Funeral Home. Se llevará a cabo un funeral familiar privado. El entierro será en el cementerio Calvary en Rochester, MN.
