Elizabeth L.
(Libby) Kane Quirin
June 15, 1927 – October 8, 2011
The Funeral Mass for Elizabeth L. (Libby) Kane Quirin will be at 2:00PM Wednesday, October 12, 2011 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Rochester with the Rev. John Lasuba officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
Elizabeth L. (Libby) Kane Quirin was born to Irish immigrant parents Michael Francis and Catherine Mary Kane in Rochester, Minnesota June 15 th 1927. She passed away peacefully Saturday afternoon, October 8, 2011, surrounded by her loving family.
Libby volunteered her time generously at various organizations. She enjoyed working with the mentally and physically challenged. She later went on to work and retire from St. Mary's Hospital. Being one of the original "Hockey Moms", she helped raise funding for the first Graham Arena. For such a small woman, her voice carried through the crowd while cheering on her children, nephews and grandchildren. She enjoyed ceramics, gardening, dancing, camping and a good road trip.
She is preceded in death by her sons, Michael and Patrick, great-grand-son Jacob, and her siblings: Anastasia, Mary, James, Margaret, Theresa, Joseph and Kathleen Kane. She is survived by her children Don (Gail) Quirin, Sandra (Kelly) Quirin, Mark (Ellen) Quirin, Terry (Colleen) Quirin, Sheila Keller, Susan Q. Allhiser, Sherry (Mark) Holmes, Sonja Quirin. Her grandchildren Anne, Maggie, Michael, Danny, James, Breanna, Jamie, Katie, Eric and Sara. Great Grandchildren Taylor, Devin, Dominic, Tyler, Allie and Mackenzie.
The Quirin family extends a special thank you to the staff and caregivers at Sunrise Cottages of Rochester and Ivan Berg.
