A  memorial mass for Elizabeth Joy "Bette" Bailey will be held at 1p.m. Tuesday, November 11, 2014, at St. Francis Catholic Church, with the Rev. Mark McNea officiating.  A private family burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Winona, Minnesota.  The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

Bette passed away on Sunday, November 2, 2014 at Prairie Meadows Senior Living in Kasson, MN.

Bette was born on June 29, 1924 in Grand Rapids, MN to Jacob Zeininger and Helga Marie Halstrom.  She graduated from Grand Rapids High School and enlisted in the United States Navy.  Bette met Bill while attending a Navy basketball game where Bill fell into her lap and the rest her life.  The two were married on July 20, 1946, in Grand Rapids, MN.

Bette spent most of her life as a home-maker.  She was a church organist and past President of the Winona Council of Catholic Women.

Bette enjoyed boating on the Mississippi River and golfing with Bill.  She also enjoyed knitting for family and friends.

Survivors include her son, Sam Bailey, and daughter, Kathleen Carney, both of Rochester; three grandchildren, Mark Bailey of Austin, Texas, Kate Pomerleau of Zumbro Falls and Christina Carney of Winona, eight great-grandchildren and a sister, Kathleen Jetland of Scottsdale, AZ.  Bette was preceded in death by her husband Bill and parents.
