Obituary

Mary Elaine Daly Wente, passed away peacefully on March 10, 2017.  Mary Elaine was born in Rochester on April 22, 1923, the daughter of Jeremiah and Elizabeth Cronin Daly.  She graduated from Rochester High School in 1942 and attended the University of Minnesota, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in dental hygiene. It was there she met her husband of 70 years, Dr. Harold (Hal) Wente.

Elaine worked for dentists in Minneapolis and Rochester before starting a family that grew to eight children.  She was active in St. John the Evangelist's women's group, St. Celestine; Olmsted Community Hospital Auxiliary; and Zumbro Valley Medical Auxiliary. She is survived by her children; Sr. Anne Wente RSCJ, Mary Wente (Paula Bank), Barbara Wente, Kevin (Colleen) Wente, (Gregory) Green, Thomas (Ellen) Wente, Elissa (Mike) Zeman, Teresa (Dave) Bridges; seventeen grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren.

Elaine Wente was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Harold Wente, her daughter, Kathleen Wente Green and her brother David Daly.

A funeral Mass will be held on Friday, March 17 at Saint John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Rochester at 10:30 am.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church starting at 9:30 am.  Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, Rochester, MN.  The "wearing of the green" is encouraged!
