Elaine Laun, 78 of Rochester passed on to her heavenly home on January 25, 2013 after a lengthy illness with heart disease.
Elaine was born in Morristown, MN on June 19, 1934 to Jesse and Adelaide (Tolzmann) White. She graduated from Morristown Public High School in 1952, from the College of Medical Technology in Minneapolis, and received her certification as a Registered Clinical Laboratory Technician. She was employed by hospitals in Iowa and retired after 30 years with Mayo Clinic in the Lipid Chemistry Laboratory. While working for Mayo Clinic, Elaine earned her AA Degree in biology from Rochester Community College as well as a BA from Winona State University. She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and Autumn Ridge Church. She enjoyed gardening, traveling, and spending time in their home in Florida. First and foremost, was her love for her extended family and collecting and restoring antique furniture.
Elaine is survived by her husband Dale, of 58 years, a daughter Sonja (Andy) Ihlenfeldt of St. Paul, three grandsons Sam, Ben, and Paul, siblings Thelma Derby of Bloomington, MN, Jean (Ivan) Ludeman of Richfield, MN, Jerome (Betty) White of Rhinelander, WS, Ione (Lloyd) Doerbaum of Naples, FL, Genevieve Delk of Sacremento, CA, Fred White of Rochester, Ruth Ann (Karl) Pearson of Sacremento, CA, Arvid (Shelly) White of Bloomington, MN, Philip (Kathy) White of Minnetonka, MN, and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, and two sisters, Arlene Engler and Eleanor Erdmann.
A special thanks and blessings to the hospice angel who sang, prayed and cared for Elaine over the two years.
A celebration of Elaine's life will be held at 4:00PM on Thursday, January 31, 2013 at Autumn Ridge Church. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Season's Hospice, Autumn Ridge Church or donor's choice.
