Edgar “Ed”
Laughton Sr
July 4, 1938 – January 8, 2024
Ed Laughton Sr., 85 of Rochester, MN was called home by our Lord on Monday, January 8, 2024.
Ed was born July 4, 1938 to George Laughton Sr. and Ruth Alma Laughton in Crosby, MN. Ed graduated from Crosby Ironton High School in June 1957 and went on to serve in the National Guard. Ed moved to Rochester, MN, where he married Rose (Haag) Laughton of Crosby, MN in 1959. Rose and Ed were blessed with two children, Connie and Ed Laughton Jr. "Buck". Ed was employed by Waters Instruments in Rochester for 32 years before retirement. One of Ed's favorite things to do was sit on his deck and spend the day reading a book. He enjoyed playing golf with his brother Joe, Bob Mills of Crosby and his Rochester buddies. He also enjoyed playing cards and checkers with friends and family members. Ed always looked forward to his yearly hunting and fishing trips with his brother, son, son-in-law and friends. Although Ed never had much success hunting or fishing, (at his choice), it didn't matter as long as he was with family and friends. Ed loved to celebrate his birthday on the 4 th of July with his friends and family. Ed was selected as Grand Marshall in the Crosby 4 th of July parade on his 80 th birthday and always held that as a great honor.
Ed is survived by his wife, Rose Laughton of Rochester, MN; daughter, Connie and Bill Hollenhorst of Rochester, MN; son, Ed Laughton Jr. "Buck" and his wife, Becky of Crosby, MN; sisters, Shirley Evans of Mission, TX, Virginia Torgerson of Crosby, MN and brother, Joe Laughton Sr. of Rochester, MN. Ed is also survived by his 3 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Ruth Laughton; father, George Laughton Sr.; 4 sisters, Evelyne, Lillien, Ruth, Margie and 2 brothers, Albert and George Jr. "Shogg".
There will be no services at this time. There will be a celebration of Ed's life at a later date. To share a special memory or condolence, please visit www.mackenfuneralhome.com
