Duane Paul
Price, Dds.
March 20, 1957 – April 30, 2020
Duane Paul Price, 63, of Rochester, MN, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on April 30, 2020. Duane was a devoted husband to his wife Debbie of 34 years and a wonderful dedicated father to his two daughters, Brittany and Melissa.
Duane was born on March 20, 1957, in Winona, MN, the son of Henry and Joan. After high school graduation, Duane enlisted in the U.S. Navy where his passion for dentistry began as a dental technician. He went on to receive his bachelor's degree from St. Mary's College in Winona, MN, where he met his wife Debbie. Prior to starting dental school, Duane was selected by the United States Navy Officer Candidate School, Newport, RI and earned his commission as a Naval officer. He obtained his Doctorate of Dental Surgery from the University of Minnesota and pursued a General Practice Residency at the Naval Dental Clinic Bethesda, MD. Duane was assigned to the USS Iwo Jima (LPH-2), Norfolk, VA as the dental department head for a two-year tour. Commander Price was then stationed at Little Creek Amphibious Base, VA and Naval Station Great Lakes, IL before joining the US Navy Reserve; retiring in 2006.
Duane and Debbie married on October 26, 1985 and soon after embarked on an adventure with the Navy; bringing up their young family through multiple relocations and returning back home to Minnesota in 1993 to pursue his dream of a private dental practice. He found his niche at Stone Barn Dentistry where he provided dental care for 27 years; he truly enjoyed practicing dentistry and building friendships with patients and staff. SBD holds a special place in the hearts of his family.
Duane was energized by hard work in and out of the dental office, his hands never seemed to rest. He spent his free time gardening, working on projects with Deb, golfing with Brittany, helping Melissa train for her races (Duane being an 11-time marathon finisher himself), and throwing balls for their golden retriever Rigsby. He loved to cook with his garden vegetables, bake his famous apple crisp and read his favorite paperback books. Above all, Duane treasured spending time with his family, whether they were hiking, playing cards, watching the Packers game, or creating memories on family vacations; he was the ultimate family man. Duane always had a plan for the day and never let a day go by without purpose.
Duane was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, the Zumbro Valley and SE District Dental Societies, and Northern Hills Mens Club.
Duane will be remembered for his calm and patient manner, his talent for mentoring, his one liner jokes, his dedication to his work as a dentist, his golden heart, and his contagious smile that will be missed dearly. He is survived by his wife, Deborah; his daughters, Brittany and Melissa (fiance' Mike Carman); his sisters, Mary Jo (Fred) Schreiber and Carol (Ron) Paulson; father and mother in-law, Robert and Sharon Sieracki; sisters in-law, Jeanette (Gene) Nelson and Teresa (Mark) Liffrig; beloved nieces and nephews and many dear friends. He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Debbie and brother, Francis.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday August 15, 2020 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church with Rev. Thomas Loomis officiating. Friends may greet the family from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the church on Saturday. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery of Winona.
