Dorothy A. Bofferding, 92, of Rochester, MN, died May 31, 2012 at Samaritan Bethany Home on Eighth in Rochester MN.

Dorothy was born on January 28, 1920 in Minneapolis, MN, and grew up on a farm in Canada.  Dorothy was the oldest of four children. She earned her RN Degree from St. Mary's Hospital in Minneapolis in 1941 and then married James J. Bofferding on Sept 6, 1947.  They moved to Fargo, ND in 1959.  Dorothy was a loving wife and devoted mother of six children.

Dorothy enjoyed playing bridge, baking, canning and playing golf in the Edgewood Women's League.  She volunteered with Birthright, was active in St. Mary's Guild, and worked at the NDSU Health Center after leaving her hospital nursing career. After retiring to Arizona in 1998, Dorothy moved to Rochester in 2001 to be near her family.  She was a resident of Shorewood Living Center until 2007.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband, James J. Bofferding, who died in 1978, her parents, George and Agnes Sieg, three brothers, Robert, William, and George Jr.  She  is survived by six children: Michael (Diane) Bofferding of Plano, TX; Mark (ReNee) Bofferding of Rochester; Mary (Don) Roberts of Rochester, MN; Maggie (Harvey) Abraham of Page, ND; Joseph (Amy) Bofferding of Bemidji, MN, and Anne Bofferding of Rochester, MN; 18 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; sister's in laws, Beverly Sieg, of Ladysmith WI, Patricia Sieg of Phoenix, AZ and Geralda Stanton of St Paul, MN; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, June 7 ^th , 11:00 am at Pax Christi Catholic Church, Rochester, MN.  Graveside service will be held June 8 ^th , 2pm, at Holy Cross Cemetery in Fargo, ND.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to American Diabetes Association and Samaritan Bethany Homes on Eighth.
