Dorothy Johanna
Beach
February 21, 1927 – April 11, 2014
Dorothy Johanna Beach, 87, lifelong resident of Rochester, entered eternal life Friday.
She was born to the late Perry and Leona Beach, Feb. 21, 1927. Dorothy graduated from Rochester High School in 1945.
Dorothy was a bookkeeper for SuperValu grocery, worked at the Kahler Hotel, and the Ronald McDonald House. Her attention to detail along with her sweet, giving nature made her many friends.
Dorothy was an active member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, volunteering with many groups including the quilters, Lutheran women's missionary league, and others. She loved traveling, hiking, gardening, growing flowers, and enjoyed cooking and baking, experimenting with new recipes often — many successfully, others not as much.
Dorothy never married, instead devoting her time and love to her brother and sister, 8 nieces and nephews — Micheale (Tom) Currier, of St. Paul; Merri Bellet, of Fergus Falls; Linda Hosch (deceased), of St. Paul; Catherine Gustafson, of St. Paul; David Beach (deceased), of Rochester; Robert (Linda) Beach, of Dodge Center; Richard (Laurie) Beach, of Rochester; Daniel Beach, of Burnsville — and their children.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her sister, Arbutus Hogle of St. Paul. She is survived by her brother, Eugene Beach of Rochester.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to Redeemer Lutheran Church, the Ronald McDonald House or Season's Hospice House.
A visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 15, 2014 in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home. A celebration of Dorothy's life will begin with a visitation at 10:00 a.m. with the service at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 16 th at Redeemer Lutheran Church with Pastor Adam Koglin officiating. Burial will follow the service at Grandview Memorial Gardens.
