Doris Leola Nelson, 95, of Rochester, MN, passed away Sunday, June 8th at Mayo Clinic Hospital Methodist Campus.

Doris was born August 9, 1929, in Waterloo, Iowa to Selmer and Macie (Emery) Thorson.  She spent most of her childhood near Hesper, Iowa and later moved to Mabel, Mn, and attended Mabel High School.  On November 8, 1947, she married Arnold D. Nelson in Rockford, Illinois. The couple moved to Rochester, MN in the early 50´s.

Doris enjoyed crafts, sewing, baking, ceramics, music, playing the piano and harmonica, baking and was a charter member of the Zumbro Valley Sweet Adelines.  She enjoyed attending the Christian Women´s Club for years and square dancing with Arnold. She also loved spending time with family.

She is survived by her two daughters, Priscilla (Pris) (Dale) Robertson of Rochester, MN and Lori (Denny) Rehbein of Kasson, MN; son, Dennis of Stewartville, MN; grandchildren Jaclyn (Cole) Freiderich, Tricia (Dušan) Ćirlić, Nate Robertson, Tim Robertson, Nick (Skye)Nelson, Jason (Katlyn) Nelson; great-grandchildren Alek (Kaz), Brady, Grace, Lillie Freiderich, Haidyn and Kinsley Ćirlić, Hailey Robertson, Emery Nelson; great-great-grandchild Harper Freiderich.

She is proceeded in death by her husband, two sisters and six brothers.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 16, 2025 in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home with visitation held one hour prior to the service.
