Donald D. Sukke – Rochester

The funeral service for Donald D. "Don" Sukke will be 11:00AM Saturday, January 11, 2014 at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Rochester officiated by Rev. Adam Koglin. Friends may call from 5PM to 7PM Friday January 10 ^th in River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.

Mr. Sukke, age 85, died January 6, 2014 at Seasons Hospice.

He was born September 26, 1928 at Sauke Center, MN to Edwin and Ella (Draves) Sukke. He moved to Grand Meadow with his family as a child and graduated from Grand Meadow High School in 1946.

On December 5, 1953 he married Pearl Knutson at Austin, MN. Don farmed with his father prior to his marriage and then two years following. In 1956 he and his family moved to Rochester where he began working for Marigold Dairy delivering milk, until the late Seventies. He did landscaping and sold Conklin products before beginning work for the Rochester school system as a custodian, retiring in 1992.

Don enjoyed working in his yard maintaining his trees, shrubs and flowers. He liked to go fishing, play pool, ping-pong and cards. Don enjoyed many hours spending time at the Rochester Senior Center and taking trips to the casino.

He is survived by his wife, Pearl, a son, Steve (Ligaya) Sukke of Sunnyvale, CA and a daughter, Marcia (John) Hockert of Rochester. Five grandchildren survive, Marc Sukke, Phillip Sukke, Sarah (Tyler Knutson) Hockert, Trevor (Heather) Hockert and Mike (Jessi) Hockert. Also surviving are three great-grandchildren, Emma, Logan and Lucy. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Robert.
