Donald William Neubauer – Rochester
Donald William Neubauer, 81, of Rochester, Minnesota, passed away peacefully Monday December 16, 2024 at home.
Donald was born September 25, 1943 in Grand Meadow, Minnesota to Herbert and Ethel (Simonson) Neubauer. In 1961 he graduated from Rochester High School where he was a recognized baseball and hockey athlete.
On June 6, 1965 Donald married Sharon Ann Draman of Emmetsburg, Iowa and the beginning of a marriage of nearly six decades until his passing. The couple lived their entire married lives in Rochester and were members of Bethel Lutheran Church.
Donald spent his 38-year professional career with the Minnesota Department of Transportation working in highway construction and state aid.
Donald was a gifted fisherman enjoying the sport all his life and the fruits of the harvest that came with it. In his younger years he spent many summers teaching his children and grandchildren the enjoyments of the outdoors along with helping them to grow in life. In his later years enjoyment came from watching great-grandchildren and the many exploratory adventures they experienced.
Donald is survived by his wife Sharon, sons Gary Neubauer (Joan) of Troy, Ohio and Jon Neubauer of Saginaw, Minnesota, five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and his sister Audrey Bullerman of Waterloo, Iowa. He was proceeded death by his parents and brother Ronald Neubauer.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday January 6, 2025, in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home in Rochester with Rev Linda Helberg officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM prior to the funeral service. A light lunch will immediately follow. A graveside burial service at Bear Creek Cemetery in Grand Meadow, Minnesota will occur at a later date.
Memorials are preferred to Bethel Music Department, Bear Creek Cemetery Grand Meadow – Cemetery Fund, Tunnels to Towers Supporting Wounded Warriors.
