Donald Stanley Egge, a man who truly loved the simple pleasures of life, passed away on June 26, 2026 surrounded by his wife and daughters.

Don was born on November 16, 1942, in Chatfield, MN. Don spent his life appreciating the beauty of country living and the love of family. He worked side-by-side with his father, Stan, on the Egge farm in Lanesboro, MN. That love for country life stayed with him throughout his life; he was always happiest when he was out hunting, fishing, or proudly watching his daughters ride their horses.

Don was known for his sharp sense of humor. He was a devoted father. More than anything, Don cherished the moments spent creating memories, sharing stories, and laughing with his beloved family and friends.Don enjoyed connecting with people across various paths. He spent many dedicated years working at IBM, helped families find their homes as a local realtor, and brought his signature wit and beautiful smile to his time bartending at the Holiday Inn South.

Whether at work or at play, Don made lasting impressions on everyone he crossed paths with.Don shared a beautiful life with his wife, Joann. His legacy lives on through his three daughters and their husbands. Kindra and Jamie Spencer, Kristal and Dan Garrity, and Karissa and Brian Hogan. He was an incredibly proud grandfather to his 10 grandchildren: Ben, Olivia, and Christian Garrity; Emelia, Levi, and Scarlet Spencer; and Chase, Brennan, Sully, and Griffin Hogan. He is also survived by his dear sister and brother-in-law, Sonja and Bob Lindholm. He is further survived by his former wife, Vickie Batzel Reller, and her husband, Gene. Don's heart and home were always open, including to his Colombian daughter, Sonia and her family; Miguel, Samuel, and Martin. Sonia first came to stay with the family and truly became one of his own.He held a special place in his heart for Joann’s family, who warmly remember him: her daughter and son-in-law, Heather and Terry Franz, along with their children, Riley and Kaley; and her son, Shaun McCormick and his son, Justin.Don has been reunited in peace with those who went before him: his parents, Stan and Ruth (Trulson) Egge; his two children, Cara and Matthew; his sisters and brothers-in-law, Phyllis and Hank Wilson, and Donna and Glenn Leighton; and Joann’s son, Keith Ede. As well as his cherished nephew and niece, Bryan Lindholm and Renae Wilson Brown.

Don’s love, his quick wit, and his stories from the past will be deeply missed by everyone who knew and loved him.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Mayo Clinic and his hospice nurses for their compassionate care, kindness, and support during Don’s final weeks and days.A visitation will be held at Macken Funeral Home in Rochester, Minnesota, on Saturday, July 18, 2026, at 11:00 AM. A funeral service will follow immediately after the visitation. Family and friends are warmly invited to a luncheon beginning at 1:00 PM to continue celebrating Don's life.
