Donald George
Brossoit
June 16, 1928 – October 8, 2018
Donald Brossoit went to his Heavenly Father on Monday October 8, 2018 surrounded by his family.
Don was born on June 16, 1928 in Stephen, MN and grew up in Thief River Falls, MN. After graduating from high school, he enlisted in the Marines Corps. Following his military service, Don worked for Johnson Drake Engineering. One of his assignments was to survey the new Rochester IBM site. In 1958 he joined IBM. Don worked at IBM for 32 years and retired in 1990.
He met Rosemary Liebl in 1953 at a family wedding. They were married in March 1957 in St. Paul and had 56 wonderful years together until Rosemary's death in 2013. Don spent the last 3 ½ years of his life at the Ponds at The Waters on Mayowood.
Don's interests were varied; he took great pleasure in his family and was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He enjoyed daily walks with Rosemary, gardening, and anything baked by Rosemary. He had a great sense of humor and never met a stranger.
Don was a skilled hockey player and participated in the first Minnesota High School Hockey Tournament in 1946. He later played for the Rochester Mustangs from 1952 to 1960. Don's faith was central to his life and he was one of the original members of Pax Christi Church in Rochester.
Don is survived by his children, David, Daniel (Kim), Jeanna Raap (Verl) and Susan Kimball; grandchildren, Jeff Paradise (Kady), Brad Paradise (Brenna), Leah Brossoit (fiancé, Andrew Kinsel), Blake Paradise (fiancée, Meredith Clayton); great-grandchildren Riley and Walker Paradise; sister, Lorraine Waage; and many wonderful nieces and nephews.
Don's family wishes to thank the incredible staff at the Ponds at The Waters on Mayowood for their love, caring and support. They were like a second family to Donald. The family also appreciated the wonderful and compassionate care provided by Mayo Hospice.
