The Funeral Mass for Donald Louis Bode will be held on Thursday, August 22, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Cecelia's Catholic Church in Algona, Iowa with Fr. Sunny Dominic officiating. There will be a visitation one hour prior to the Mass. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Algona. There will also be a visitation held in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home in Rochester, MN, on Tuesday, August 20, 2019 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. (1119 11 ½ St. SE, Rochester, MN 55904).
Donald "Don" Louis Bode died on August 15, 2019 at Rochester East Health Services, where he resided.
Donald was born on February 1, 1928 in Algona, IA., the son of Louis and Marie (Lamuth) Bode. In 1947 their family moved to Elma, IA, where he enjoyed working on the family farm. Donald was drafted into the Korean War and served in the United States Navy from 1951 to 1955. On September 28, 1963, he married Inez Flugge in Elma, Iowa. They began their family in Charles City, Iowa, later moving to Rochester to be closer to his parents. He always missed life on the farm. Don worked varies mechanical jobs and retired from Crenlo Inc. of Rochester.
Don is survived by his wife Inez and their children., Brenda of Utica; Darwin of Chatfield; Donna of Rochester; Melissa of Glendale, AZ; Sharlet of Kasson; Douglas of Rochester and Janelle of Rochester; four grandchildren and two great grandchildren, one sister Joan Marr of New Mexico and a sister-in-law Mary (Galligan) Bode of Rochester.
He is preceded in death by his parents Louis and Marie Bode, an infant son Brian David Bode, two brothers, Bernard and Charles "Bob", two sisters, Lucile and Kathryn. One sister-in-law Fae (Lashbrook) Bode and two brother–in–laws, Arthur Lindsley and Donald Marr.
Memorials are preferred Mayo Clinic Alzheimer's research.
