Dolores P. Stephan, 101, passed away peacefully on January 18, 2013 at the Golden Living Center in Rochester, MN.
Dolores (Haines) Stephan was born on September 19, 1911 in Arcadia Wisconsin. She was one of 10 children. After earning her nursing degree in La Crosse WI, she came to work at St Marys hospital where she met her husband Wayne. They were married, on January 26, 1938. Wayne passed away on October 7, 1978. They lived in Austin MyuN, Portland Oregon, La Crosse Wisconsin and then settled in Rochester MN.
Dolores was a longtime, 27 years of service, registered nurse at both St. Marys and Mayo. Nursing was her passion and she loved caring for and helping people. She retired from Mayo in 1973.
Dolores was a member of St Francis Catholic church. She loved playing the piano, crocheting, canning, playing cribbage and cards, fishing and was a jigsaw puzzle lover. She never had a bad day and always had a smile on her face. She never worried about anything for she always said, "worrying will get you no where".
Dolores is survived by her son Gail (Donna) Stephan of Rochester; 5 Grandchildren, Scott Stephan of Crystal, MN, Kim (Jim) Ohly of Rochester, MN Linda (Tom) Ratke of Dallas Georgia, Mike Stephan of Rochester, MN and Douglas (Kimber) Stephan of Minneapolis, MN. and 10 beautiful loving great grand children, Hannah, Samantha, Molly, Brianna, Sarah, Emily, Rachel, Danny, Amber and Autumn. She was preceded in death by 6 brothers and 3 sisters.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be at 11; 00am on Wednesday January 23, 2013 at St. Francis of Assisi Church with her nephew, the Msgr. Steven Kachel officiating. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Tuesday January 22, 2013 from 5-8pm in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church.
Pall Bearers are Scott Stephan, Mike Stephan, Douglas Stephan, Ron Stephan, Jim Ohly, Tom Ratke and Jim Griffin.
Memorials are preferred to the American Alzheimers Association.
