Dolores M. Roessler,103, of Rochester, MN, died Saturday, September 9th, at Samaritan Bethany Arbor Terrace, where she had resided since October 2022.
Dolores was born March 26, 1920, in Rochester, MN, to Edward and Fernande (Lonqueux) Dornack. She graduated from Rochester Senior High School in 1939. On November 14, 1942, she married Lewis ("Louie") J. Roessler in Santa Ana, CA, where he was stationed in the US Army Air Corp.
Dolores worked as a secretary on several air bases where Louie was stationed, and also for the World War II Ration Board in Phoenix, AZ, before the couple returned to Rochester after the war. She later worked as a secretary in the school nurse's office of Kellogg Junior High School in Rochester, retiring in 1967.
Dolores was an active member of Homestead United Methodist Church, where she and her husband were Methodist Youth Fellowship advisors. She belonged to the Naomi Circle and visited the homebound. She also volunteered at the Salvation Army and at the Mayo Clinic Drop-In Center. Dolores was an avid Vikings fan and enjoyed painting, cooking, and fishing. Her granddaughters and great granddaughters were the love of her life.
Dolores is preceded in death by her husband, Lewis J. Roessler, who died in 2013, and by one brother, Daniel Dornack. She is survived by her brother Richard Dornack; her son Steven (Janene) Roessler of Preston, MN; two granddaughters, Kia (Shawn) Donais and Kisha (Nate) Bailly of Fergus Falls MN; four great granddaughters, Brinn, Nori, Alaina, and Elsa; and by many cherished nieces and nephews.
Macken Funeral Home has provided cremation. Friends and family are invited to celebrate Dolores's life at the George Healy Memorial Chapel at Oakwood Cemetery in Rochester, on Friday, October 6th at 2:00 PM, with visitation beginning at 1:30. Interment will take place at Oakwood following the service.
Memorials are suggested to Samaritan Bethany, Homestead United Methodist Church, Mayo Hospice, or to a charity of choice.
