Diane Kay Eaton Miller, age 88, passed away peacefully at home on August 4, 2026, with her loving husband of 52 years, Irving Miller, by her side.

Diane was born on October 18, 1937, to Evelyn (Donovan) Eaton and Frank Douglas Eaton at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota. She graduated from Lourdes High School in 1955 and later earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Social Work, graduating summa cum laude from Winona State College. She was inducted into Alpha Sigma Lambda National Honor Society for Students in Continuing Education and Alpha Delta Mu National Social Work Honor Society. Diane later earned her Masters degree and was licensed by the Minnesota Board of Social Work. She worked as a nursing home social worker in Rochester and Pine Island until her retirement in 1994.

Diane married Richard Smith, and together they welcomed their son, Michael Smith. Although their marriage later ended in divorce, Michael introduced Diane to Irving Miller, who became the love of her life. Diane and Irving were married on June 1, 1974, and shared 52 wonderful years together.

A devoted Catholic, Diane was an active member of Pax Christi Catholic Church, where she served as a Eucharistic. She found great joy in baking, gardening, and creating beautiful handmade crafts. An exceptionally talented crocheter, she earned Minnesota State Fair ribbons for her award-winning afghans.

Diane was preceded in death by her parents, Evelyn (Donovan) Eaton and Frank Douglas Eaton. She is survived by her beloved husband, Irving L. Miller; her son, Michael A. Smith; her cherished grandchildren, Riley Smith and Callie Smith; her sister, Beverly Fountain; her brothers, Frank Eaton and John (Barbara) Eaton; and several nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 13, 2026, at Pax Christi Catholic Church in Rochester, Minnesota. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the Mass. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Rochester.
