Denise Sandra (Oredson) Nisbit passed away October 9, 2026.
On a very snowy day in Dover, Minnesota, on March 15, 1943, Denise made her entrance into this world after her very determined father used his tractor to dig his way to the doctor and bring him back.
After graduating from St. Charles High School, she worked at Chatfield Bank. She also married her high school sweetheart, Willard. They started their family, and she became a stay-at-home mom. After she returned to the workforce, she spent more than 30 years at Seneca Foods, formerly known as Libby’s, in Rochester.
She is survived by the love of her life of 64 years, Willard; her children, Sherrill (Stephen) Van Guilder, Leslee Nisbit, Duane Nisbit, Sandra (Kenneth) Baxter, and Suzanne Nisbit; 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
She loved going garage saling, gardening, and baking her Christmas cookies. Her love for animals and compassion for others have carried on through her children and grandchildren. She was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Rochester, Minnesota.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dennis and Eleanor Oredson; her brother, Kent Oredson; and her son, Rodney Nisbit.
Visitation will be held in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 14, 2026. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 15, 2026, at Redeemer Lutheran Church. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Thursday.
Memorials can be sent to Paws and Claws or Redeemer Lutheran Church.
We want to thank her special friends, Dr. Thompson and Rick, for putting a smile on her face. And thank you to St. Croix Hospice for their care of her.
Love is eternal.
