Deborah Ostrum (Moores), 64, of Rochester Minnesota died on February 2, 2013 from complications of pancreatic cancer. She was born on January 20, 1949 in Rochester Minnesota to Robert and Kathryn Moores.
She graduated from John Marshall High School in 1967 and attended the University of Wisconsin, River Falls. Deborah married Joel Ostrum on September 17, 1972.
She began her career as a long distance telephone operator for Northwestern Bell in 1972 remaining through multiple corporate changes retiring as a Field Engineer for Qwest in 2005.
She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Joel Ostrum and daughters, Sarah Ostrum of Saint Paul Minnesota and Ruth Ostrum of Rock Hill, South Carolina. She is also survived by her sisters Susan Johnson of Rochester, Minnesota and Cindy McHale (Larry) of Aiken, South Carolina. As well as sister in law LuAnne Jacobs (Dan) of Rochester, Minnesota, mother in law Francis Ostrum (Claude) of Tuscon, Arizona. She is also survived by many special friends, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and father in law.
She enjoyed quilting with her friends and was a member of the Quilters' Sew-ciety. She also loved to travel and cruising the Caribbean with her sisters. Deborah was known for her wry sense of humor and enjoyed laughing with friends and family. Deborah battled pancreatic cancer for 7 months with such a will to live that she was able to check off several to do's from her 'bucket list'. Such as: riding the water slides in the Wisconsin Dells, taking a final cruise of the Caribbean with her husband and sisters and enjoying the shows in Las Vegas.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday February 6, 2013 from 5pm-8pm in River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held on Thursday February 7, 2013 at 1:30pm in River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home officiated by Father Don Schmitz.
