Dawn Marie Smith, 50, passed away on April 29, 2026 peacefully in her home with her long time partner and best friend Patrick Mewhorter. Leaving behind a legacy of love, resilience, and devotion to her family. Born on May 18, 1975, in West Reading, Pennsylvania, Dawn was the daughter of Patricia M. Wojciechowski she was later adopted by Albert Hinton, who became an important part of her life and family story.

She spent most of her life in southern Minnesota, where she built a home centered on family, comfort, and connection. Dawn was an incredible daughter, mother, niece, and friend. She had a deep love for her children, who were the center of her world, and she took immense pride in watching them grow. She was the loving mother of Breanna Smith and her beautiful boys William and Levi, Madelyn (Jaymen) Serrano, and Jules (Jaida Emmons) Smith. Dawn was preceded in death by her grandparents Regina and Gerald Wojciechowski.

She found joy in the simple things—late-night Walmart runs, quiet time at home, and especially in taking on any DIY project she could dream up. Whether it was something small or ambitious, Dawn loved creating, finishing, and proudly showing off her work to those around her. Her creativity and enthusiasm were contagious. Dawn also had a special place in her heart for her dogs, who brought her constant companionship and comfort. Her home was a place of warmth, laughter, and unconditional love.

She will be remembered for her strength, her love for her family, her sense of humor, and the way she made a house feel like home. Her presence will be deeply missed, but her spirit will live on in the lives of those who knew and loved her.
