David "Dave" R. Fredricksen – Rochester, MN

David Roy Fredricksen, 76, of Rochester, MN, died Saturday, October 21, 2023 at Seasons Hospice House in Rochester, MN.

Dave was born March 20, 1947 at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester, MN to Roy and Mary (Roller) Fredricksen.

He grew up on a farm in Rock Dell, MN and walked to a one room country school. Then the family moved to a farm by Eyota, MN at age 12.

He graduated from Dover-Eyota High School in 1965. He worked at Crenlo of Rochester for one year until he was drafted into the U.S. Army in August of 1966.

He married Mary Ellringer on October 29, 1966 at Holy Redeemer Church in Eyota, MN.

He attended the U.S. Army Air Defense School at Fort Bliss in El Paso, TX. He worked on the electronics of the Nike-Hercules Nuclear Missile with a Top Secret clearance. He then was stationed in Wilmington, OH from 1967-1969.  After returning home, he joined the Minnesota National Guard for three years. He lived in the Rochester area for 54 years where he raised his family.

After being honorably discharged from the US Army in 1969, he joined the Burroughs Corporation (UNISYS) as a Field Engineer where he worked for 23 years. He then joined Banker's Equipment Company and retired in 2014.

Dave loved to hunt and fish at the family's North & South MN cabins, enjoyed playing cards, worked on classic cars, and Dave was a skilled handyman who could fix anything.

He is survived by his wife Mary, his two sons, James (Tammy Bachman) of Rochester, MN and Brian of Shoreview, MN, two grandchildren, Hannah Fredricksen of Phoenix, AZ and Drew Fredricksen of Rochester, MN and his brother Jerol Fredricksen of Stewartville, MN. He is preceded in death by his son Michael Fredricksen in 2013, sister Marilyn in 1964, and his parents.

We would like to thank the Mayo Clinic and Olmsted Medical Center for Dave's lifetime of medical care. Seasons Hospice was a beautiful environment for Dave to spend his final moments, we appreciated their care tremendously.
