David Lester Carson, 70, of Rochester passed away peacefully on December 12, 2019 at Whitewater Health Services in St. Charles, MN.

David was born on March 13, 1949 in Preston, MN to Robert and Pauline (Vanderbosch) Carson. He graduated from Spring Valley High School in 1967. Following graduation, he joined the U.S. Army until he was medically discharged.

Dave enjoyed spending time up north, being in the woods and on the water, and training hunting dogs. He especially enjoyed hunting for deer and bear. Dave was a quiet and gentle man who loved his family very much.

David is survived by his wife of nearly 30 years, Lana; daughter, Tracy (Bryan) Zahn; stepson, Bryan (Amy) Hanson; granddaughters, Katey (William) Schweiger, Megan Zahn, Kayleigh Hanson, Mariah Hanson; great-granddaughter, Madelyn Schweiger; sister, Becky Carson; brother, Ron Carson.

He was preceded in death by his parents and infant brother, Randy.

Memorials are welcome to the American Diabetes Association and Resurrection Catholic Church in Rochester.

David's family would like to extend a special thank you to the caregivers at Whitewater Health Services and Mayo Hospice for the loving care he and his family received.

The memorial service for David will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 17, 2019 in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home, with Fr. Shawn Haremza officiating. The visitation will begin one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
