Obituary

Daniel Joseph Kelley of Byron, Minnesota, died peacefully in his sleep on January 11, 2026.  He was born on November 11, 1952, in Rochester, MN to Joseph and Mary Pat Kelley.  He was the second oldest child of 14 children.  Dan graduated from Mayo High School in 1971.  He was active in many sports in his childhood years playing football, hockey, and baseball.  After graduating from high school, he enlisted in the Army from 1973 to 1975 and was stationed in Germany.  Dan worked at Crenlo for 40 plus years,

Dan was united in marriage with Jane (DeGroot) Kelley on May 20, 1977.  They raised their three children in Byron, MN.  He was very involved and found much joy with coaching his children in various sports, plus coaching with Special Olympics.  His other interests were attending concerts in the park with his wife, an avid Vikings fan, and had a great passion for golf.

He is survived by his wife, Jane, of Byron MN; and his son, Brian (Courtney) Kelley and grandson, Ben; daughter, Laurie Kelley all of Rochester MN and son, Nick Kelley of Pine Island, MN.  He is also survived by his mother, Mary Pat Kelley plus 5 brothers and 8 sisters and many nieces and nephews.  He is preceded in death by his father, Joseph Kelley and his in-laws, Bill and Marie DeGroot.

Dan will be remembered for his great sense of humor, heart of gold, and the love he shared so freely for his friends and family.  May his soul rest in peace.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, January 30, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm, at the Eagles Club, 917 15 th Avenue SE, Rochester, Minnesota.
