In Loving Memory of Dale B. Hostad – Rochester, MN

Dale Burton Hostad, 77, of Rochester, MN died early Saturday morning September 9th, 2023, at Mayo Clinic Hospital St. Mary's Campus.

Dale was born August 26th, 1946, in Austin, MN to Kenneth and Beatrice (Hildreth) Hostad. When he was 10 years old, his family moved to Rochester where he attended public schools, graduating from John Marshall High School in 1964. On May 25th, 1968, he married Charlotte Carlson at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. They had 3 children.

Dale dedicated his career to IBM for 32 years until he retired in 2000. Post retirement he spent his days driving for Park Place Motors. He was renowned for his quick wit, generosity, and kindness. His ability to cultivate lifelong friendships with a wide variety of people was impressive- often teased by his family that he could go anywhere in the world and bump into someone he knew. To Dale, golf was a religion, not just a sport, and he loved spending time on the course.

Dale is survived by his children, Andrew Hostad (Alison), Boise, ID, Julie Hostad (Scott Petersen), Charleston, SC, and Carey Heartbourne, Brainard, MN. He is also the proud grandfather of Bryson Hostad, who is the son of Andrew and his wife Alison. He is additionally survived by Charlotte (Hostad) Tarashanti.

Visitation will be held in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home on Thursday September 14th from 4-7pm with a brief remembrance ceremony at approximately 5:30 pm during which visitors are invited to share any special memories of Dale.
