Constance "Connie" Irene (Gray) Stevermer – Rochester Constance "Connie" Irene Stevermer, 88, passed away on Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at Mayo Clinic Hospital – Saint Marys Campus. Constance Irene Gray was born March 8, 1926 at Saint Marys Hospital in Rochester to Theodore and Irene (Mattson) Gray. Connie graduated from Rochester High School in 1944. Connie worked for fifteen years as secretary in the Olmsted County Extension Agent's Office until her marriage in 1958 to Gene W. Stevermer of Easton, Minn. Following Mr. Stevermer's death in 1961, Connie worked for twenty-two years in the Communications Department of Mayo Clinic until her retirement. She then enjoyed many years working in the Fair Office at the Olmsted County Fair. Connie volunteered with Mayo Clinic Volunteer Services for sixteen years and was active in several areas. Connie was a parishioner of the Church of St. John the Evangelist for fifty-four years. Connie is survived by two daughters, Mona Stevermer of Rochester and Jean (Darrell) Kundert of Bozeman, Mont.; grandsons Scott Kundert of New York City and Kyle Kundert of Bozeman and nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends and family. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, an infant sister, and a sister Geraldine Oscarson. Connie's passions included world travel, trips to Montana, reading, flowers, spending time with family, and watching Minnesota sports teams. Connie was loved for her humor and exuberant spirit. The family is grateful to Connie's many friends and caregivers at Charter House and Mayo Clinic. The funeral mass will be held 10:00am, Thursday, March 12, 2015 at the Church of St. John the Evangelist, with Msgr. Rev. Gerald Mahon officiating. Visitation will be held from 4:00pm to 7:00pm, Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at the River Park Chapel, Macken Funeral Home and one half hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials are preferred to the Charter House Employee Appreciation Fund, the Poverello Fund at Saint Marys, Mayo Clinic Alzheimer's Disease Research, or the Church of St. John the Evangelist.
