Obituary

Clarence Boelman, age 93, passed away peacefully on August 11, 2021, at Green Prairie Skilled Nursing Center in Plainview, MN. Mr. Boelman was a long time Rochester resident and business owner.

Clarence was born on June 30, 1928, in Hollandale, MN, to Carl and Harkie (Helmers) Boelman. He attended schools and worked on farms in the area until he joined the U.S. Army in 1946. He was stationed in Germany where he worked on construction rebuilding after WWII. He was honorably discharged in October, 1948.

Clarence married Marjorie Jackson in 1949, and his four daughters (Cynthia, Janis, Mitzi, and Jessica) were born during their marriage. They later divorced.

In 1956, the family moved to Rochester and Clarence began his long career in the roofing business working for Woodhouse Brothers and later owning his own roofing business, Bo-Jac Roofing. He did excellent work and was proud of this reputation. He enjoyed the respect and friendship of many people in the trades.

Clarence also loved his many projects in his home and yard. He enjoyed refinishing furniture, working on his cars, and keeping everything in his home in perfect condition. He loved watching western movies and the MN Vikings and Twins, dancing and socializing, and he was an amazingly lucky gambler.

His greatest joy each day was the love and companionship he shared through the years with his loving wife Mary Ann. In December 1978, Clarence and Mary Ann Rehbein Jordan were married and they celebrated almost 43 years of marriage. Clarence also welcomed Mary Ann's six children into his life. After retirement, they lived for more than 15 years in Goodyear, AZ. They returned to Rochester in 2017 to be nearer to more family.

Clarence is survived by his daughters, Cynthia Fjermestad, Janis Lagomasino, Mitzi Boelman, and Jessi and Dave Boeck. He is also survived by stepchildren, Gary and Pam Jordan, Cindy and Randy Olson, Kathy and Scott Kittleson, Kerry and Bob Sanden, Sandra and Keith Roeder, and Paula and James Weedman. He and Mary Ann were blessed with 25 grandchildren and many extended family.

Clarence was preceded in death by his parents; siblings and their spouses, Peter Boelman, Gerald and Ruby Boelman, Edna and Wesley Hatle, Marie and George Burns, and Henrietta Boelman; infant son, Thomas Boelman; granddaughter, Lucinda Lagomasino; and grandson, Matt Brown.

Clarence loved his family and he was dearly loved in return. He will be remembered and missed each day. His family would like to thank his doctors, Mayo Hospice nurses and aides, and all of the staff at Green Prairie Rehabilitation and Assisted Living for their excellent and kind care at this difficult time.
