The funeral for Charles Henry Peters will be at 11:00am, Saturday, March 4, 2017 in River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home with Rev. Lester Horntvedt officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Rochester. Visitation will be held from 9:00am to 10:00am for the family and 10:00am to 11:00am for friends of the family.
Mr. Peters, 83, of Moose Lake (Hayward) WI, formerly of Byron, MN, died Sunday, February 26, 2017 at his home. Charles (Chuck) was born June 24, 1933 in Detroit, MI to Hamilton A. Peters and Ruth E. (Gerds) Peters. Charles married Dorothy Jean Measel in South Bend, IN on January 4, 1955 and they lived together in Utica, MI, and then Byron, MN until Dorothy's passing on September 4, 1987. Charles then married Carol Whitney in Rochester, MN on November 26, 1988 and they resided in Byron, MN, and then their current residence in Moose Lake, WI.
Charles had a zest for life. He worked at IBM for more than 30 years. After retiring from IBM, he opened Byron Lanes in Byron, MN, finally retiring to Moose Lake, WI in 2011. While employed at IBM, Charles farmed 120 acres, was active in many sports, was a musician and a private pilot. He was a US Army veteran and served in Germany for three years.
He loved his family and will live forever in their hearts. Until we meet again, husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, God rest your soul.
Survivors include his wife, Carol Peters of Moose Lake, WI; two sons, Steve (Patti) Peters of Lakeville, MN, and Tim (Paula) Peters of Rochester, MN; brother, Richard (Zita) Peters of Detroit, MI; stepdaughter, Leslie (Larry) Rosenstock; stepson, Matthew Whitney; grandchildren, Chris Tompkins, Christie (Jeff) Will, Ashley (Lucas) Bakken, Nick, Rob, Dan, Brett and Danielle Peters, Ben and Declan Rosenstock; and great-grandchildren, Annalyse Tompkins, and Emmy and Parker Will. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy; daughter, Lynn; and brother, Larry.
Memorials are suggested to Feeding America and St. Jude's Hospital.
