St. Charles — Cecil Keith Dietz

Cecil Keith Dietz, 89, died Tuesday, October 21, 2014 at Golden Living Nursing Home in St. Charles.

Cecil was born and raised, on his father's farm, in Cogswell, ND. He married Marjorie (Schoville) in 1947 and bought his Uncle Sid Savey's farm. In 1956 he sold the farm and moved to Beloit, WI, where the couple lived for 10 years. In 1968, he bought a 200 acre dairy farm in Finlayson, MN.  Two of his sons, Dwight and Lyle continued to farm while Cecil went to work at Askov Feed Store. Cecil and Marjorie moved to Mesa, AZ, in 1989, where he worked at the airport for 2 years.  He also bagged groceries for Albertson's Supermarket. He retired from Albertson's in 2000 and moved to Madison, WI.  He bagged groceries at the local Cub Foods until they moved to Eyota, MN in 2006, to be closer to family.

Cecil enjoyed woodworking.  They did not live in a home that he did not add on to or improve. He loved making items for his grand and great grandchildren.

He leaves his wife of almost 67 years, Marjorie Dietz; his 4 sons, Gene (Denise) Dietz, Cincinnati, OH, Lyle (Colleen) Dietz, Sibley, IA,  Dwight (Sandy) Dietz, Oshkosh, WI, Paul (Jenny) Dietz, Harmony, MN, 2 daughters, Lyla Redetzke, Watertown, SD, Debbie (Ken) Cochrum, Talladega, AL,  26 grandchildren, and 28 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin and Eleanor (Bacon) Dietz, and 4 siblings, Ralph Dietz, Floyd Dietz, Leo Dietz, and Edna (Dietz) Nomeland.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00AM, Saturday, October 25, 2014 in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home in Rochester, with a visitation one hour prior to the service.  Burial will be at Sargent County Cemetery in Cogswell, North Dakota at a later date.
