Catherine Marie (Frank) Herron, 95, passed away peacefully at Ledge View Nursing Center in DePere, WI on December 14, 2013. She was born in Amadon, North Dakota on July 29, 1918 and came to Rochester as a young woman to work at St. Mary's Hospital. It was there she met Ralph Frank, whom she married in 1939. The family lived in a little house across from the Miracle Mile until 1952 when they moved to a 40 acre farm near Simpson. Catherine and Ralph continued working at St. Mary's while raising their three children, also growing crops, milking cows, tending chickens, ducks and various other animals and having a large garden. Catherine loved to dance, play cards, embroider and crochet and was an excellent baker. Ralph passed away in 1977. She met Forrest Herron and they were married June 3, 1983. Catherine and Forrest loved to travel and made many trips to Las Vegas, which was their favorite destination. Catherine retired from St. Mary's Hospital but continued to raise a large garden and she and Forrest would package and sell their fresh vegetables. They also liked to experiment making their own wine.  In 2010 Catherine and Forrest left their home and resided at Golden Living Center in Rochester where Forrest passed away Jan. 11, 2012. Catherine moved to the Ledge View Nursing Center in July of 2012 to be close to her daughter and family there.

She is survived by a sister, Rose Frank, Sacramento, California, a son, James Frank (Barbara), Ellonton, FL, a daughter, Mary Kay Tointon (Glenn), N. Ft. Myers, Fl. and DePere, WI., daughter-in-law, Elaine Frank, San Antonio, TX, step daughter, Idelle Manthei(Terry) of Rochester, Mn., grandchildren, Tim (Tracy), Tonya, Christopher (Becca), James Jr. (Barbara), Thomas(Jamie), Steven(Lena), Kimberly, Heather, Robert Jr., Jessica(Mike),Craig and 20 great grandchildren.  Catherine was preceded in death by her first husband, Ralph Frank, second husband, Forrest Herron, son , Robert Frank, and sister, Magdeline Reisenhauer, and her parents, Joe and Wilhelmenia Frank.

Visitation will be held on Friday, December 20, 2013 at River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home from 4 PM to 6PM and one half hour prior to the service at the church. The funeral mass will be at 10:00am Saturday, December 21, 2013 at St. Bridgets Catholic Church with Rev. John Wilmot officiating.   Reception at the church will follow a graveside prayer service at St. Bridgets Cemetery.
