On March 25th, 2018 our Lord and Savior reclaimed the soul of one of his angels, Caroline (Carol) L. Matz, at the age of 75. She was an extremely loved women, who always had wonderful things to say and hugs to give you if needed.

Caroline was born November 6, 1942 to Donald and Pearl (Johnson) Schones in Wabasha, MN.

She graduated from John Marshall High School in Rochester. She also attended business tech school in Milwaukee, WI. In January 1963, she married Ronald Matz. The couple later divorced.

Caroline was a 10 year retiree of the Mayo Clinic.

Caroline is survived by her son, Mark (Lee) Matz and daughter, Angela (Steve) Schultz. She is also survived by her four grandchildren, Joseph and Christopher Schultz, Zachary and Joshua Matz; three sisters, Delores Sheehan, Sharon (Mike) Lippert, and Gloria Schones; and two brothers, Richard (Kay) Schones, and Kenneth (Vicki) Jerome. Caroline is preceded in death by her parents.

Caroline enjoyed reading, puzzles, was a classic movie buff, and time with her grandchildren.

A memorial gathering for Caroline will be held from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm Saturday, May 12 in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home. Prayer service will be at 12:00 pm with Pastor Bridget Sheely officiating.
