Cahly (Soledad) Angel Raymond, age 90, passed away on Friday, Nov. 12 ^th , 2010 at St. Mary's Hospital from complications following a cardiac, surgical procedure.

Cahly (Soledad Angel Gonzalez) was born on October 12 ^th , 1920, in Mason City, Iowa, the youngest of five girls. Cahly and her sisters moved to Rochester, MN in the late 1930's, attending Rochester High School. Cahly worked as a nanny for several Mayo Clinic doctors, while attending college, later graduating from the 1945 St. Mary's School of Nursing as a Registered Nurse. Afterwards she began employment with St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, enjoying a rich and fulfilling career expanding over 37 years.  Additionally, before the arrival of aero medical evacuation, Cahly served as a part-time flight nurse assisting several private companies.  After retiring, Cahly periodically served as a Spanish interpreter for the Hospital, and continued to care for patients.

Cahly was preceded in death by her two sons, Martin L. and Paul A. Raymond and her four sisters, Aurora, Suzanne, Harriet and Antonia. She is survived by four daughters, Julie Wilson and Sarah (Elmer Merced) Raymond of Rochester, and Mary Dolezal and Diane (Michael) Covalciuc of Scottsdale, AZ.  Cahly, perhaps the most cherished Grandmother ever, is survived by 15 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

A Memorial Service will be 12:00 noon on Tuesday, Nov. 16 ^th at St Francis of Assisi Catholic Church  with the Rev. Timothy T. Reker officiating.  Visitation will be from 11:30 until the time of service on Tuesday at the church.

Memorials are suggested to the Poverello Fund, an endowment which Cahly held close to her heart as they provided critical, medical services to her son Martin, extending his life for over 10 years.

Words cannot express our loss of the greatest treasure we have known, our Mother- and friend to all the people she touched with her love, humor and generosity. We have an ever deeper and firmer belief that nothing is merely an accident when seen in the light of God, that her whole life down to the smallest details has been marked out for her in the plan of Divine Providence and has a completely coherent meaning in God's all-seeing eyes.
