The funeral for Bud Saterdalen will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, October 10 ^th , 2011 in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home in Rochester, with the Rev. Vern Christopherson officiating.  Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Rochester.  Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, October 9 ^th , in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home and one hour prior to services.

Bud Saterdalen, 82, of Rochester, Minn., died Thursday (October 6 ^th , 2011) at Saint Mary's Hospital with loving family at his side, after a lengthy illness.

Bud was born July 9 ^th , 1929, in Rock Dell to Joseph and Agnes Saterdalen.  Bud enlisted in the Marines and served in the Korean War.  Bud worked as a Supervisor of the janitorial staff at Mayo Clinic for 22 years before his retirement.  On May 15 ^th , 1953 Bud married Mary Ellen McMahan in Decorah, Iowa.  They made their home in Rochester.  Mary Ellen Saterdalen passed away March 27 ^th , 1996.  On June 14 ^th , 1997 Bud married Charlotte (Nelson) Berndt in Rochester.

Bud Saterdalen enjoyed muskie fishing, camping, bowling, hunting and snowmobiling.

Survivors include his four daughters, Sheri (Thomas) Smith of LeRoy, Minn., LouAnn (Kim) Phelps of Ostrander, Minn., Sandy (Richard) Pilgram of Bemidji, Minn., Christine Saterdalen of Rochester, Minn., two sons, Elmer Gregory (Dawn) Saterdalen of Zimmerman, Minn., Joseph (Pamela) Saterdalen of LeRoy, Minn.; his thirteen grandchildren and ten great grandchildren, five stepchildren and several step grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Bud was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife Mary Ellen Saterdalen.

The family is grateful for the loving care Bud received from the staff at Mayo Hospice and the nurses on 3 ^rd Joseph at St. Mary's Hospital.

Memorials are preferred to the Mayo Clinic Lung Cancer Research Center in Rochester.
