The funeral service for Brian Hultz will be at 10:00AM, Friday, December 13, 2013 in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 5:00pm – 7:00pm, Thursday, December 12, 2013 in the River Park Chapel and one hour prior to the service on Friday.
Brian "Red Dog" Hultz died at home December 10, 2013. He was born December 3, 1948 in Independence, Iowa to George and Matehilda Hultz. He attended high school in Riverside, California and dropped out in his senior year to join the Navy, later earning his GED. After serving three years in the Navy, including a tour of duty in Vietnam, he made his way back Cresco, Iowa and then up to Rochester where he met and eventually married Shirley Smith in 1973. He held several jobs before joining Johnson Printing where he worked for over 25 years. He was a member of the Military Order of the Purple Heart, American Legion, and past commander of VFW Post 1215 in Rochester as well as a proud member of their color guard. He is survived by his wife, a daughter, Sonja Pirmantgen of Austin, 5 grandchildren, a brother Marshall "Butch" Hultz of Coeur-d'Alene, Idaho, brother-in-law Charles (Sharon) Smith of Wabasha and Wayne (Deborah) Smith of Mantorville, and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, and three sisters.
