Brent, 26 of Bloomington, formerly of Rochester, died of a brief illness at his home Monday February 2, 2015.
Brent was born July 23, 1988 in South Korea. He grew up in Rochester attending Lincoln at Mann, Willow Creek, and graduated from Mayo High School in 2006. He then attended The University of Minnesota Morris and later Winona State University. Brent was a representative for DCM Services in Minneapolis.
Survivors include his parents Debra and Ralph Jewell of Eyota, sisters Kate (Ryan) Thompson-Jewell and Camille (Deke) Timm both of Rochester, his maternal grandmother Kathryn Haen and paternal grandmother Trudy Jewell both of Rochester, his nieces and nephews Ethan, Landon, Sylvia Thompson-Jewell and Norah and Braeden Timm. Many aunts, uncles, and cousins also survive. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather Thomas Haen and paternal grandfather Ralph Jewell Sr.
Brent lived with a life challenge of juvenile diabetes, which did not stop him from doing the things he loved, such as snowboarding, fishing, Frisbee golf, skateboarding, and going to concerts. Brent was a gifted musician and vocalist. He played guitar and piano, was a solo artist, as well as a member of several bands. Brent especially loved summer fishing trips to Lake Kabetogama with his family every year.
Brent was a blessing to his family and friends. His enthusiasm for life, his kindness, and his positive attitude touched everyone he met. Brent was smart, funny, caring and talented in so many ways. He was the sunshine of our lives and losing him leaves an emptiness that can never be filled. We had him for 26 joyful years, a time too short for those who loved him. We love you Bubba-Lou!
Memorials are preferred to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation or the Lincoln K-8 music program.
