A Memorial Service for Bobbie Darnell will be at 2:00PM, Monday, September 30, 2013 in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home with the Rev. Paul Nelson officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.  A private burial will be at a later date.

Bobbie Burns Darnell, 91, of Rochester, passed away on Thursday, September 26, 2013 at the Stewartville Care Center.

Bobbie was born on October 19, 1921 in Rochester to Edwin and Gertrude (Root) Darnell.  He attended local schools, and in 1942 entered the U.S. Army, serving his country until 1946.  As a WWII veteran, he received a Combat Infantry Badge and also the Bronze Star.  On August 1, 1942, he married Marguerite Dison in Rochester.  Marguerite passed away on November 8, 1991.  On May 10, 2003, Bobbie married Lorraine Day Nutting at St. Pius X Catholic Church.

Bobbie retired from Marigold Dairy.

He is survived by his wife, Lorraine; a daughter, Margo (Frank)Powers of Crystal, MN; a son, Mark (Roxanne) Darnell of Rochester; 3 grandchildren, Brent, Daniel and Scott; 3 great-grandchildren, Isabella, Emma and Braiden.  He was preceded in death by his first wife and a daughter, Anna Callier.

Bobbie belonged to the Rochester Quarterback Club, the Eagles Club and the Golden Gloves.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Mayo Clinic Alzheimer's Research.
