Bernice Deonne Stewart, age 81 passed away on February 12, 2016 at Pine Haven Care Center, in Pine Island, MN.

Bernice Kruger was born on July 5, 1934 in Wabasha to George and Elsie (Bremer) Kruger. She attended Elgin and Plainview High Schools. On November 8, 1952 she married the love of her life, Darrell Stewart at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Rochester. Together, they had four children. She and her husband owned and operated "Darrell's Restaurants" in the Rochester area. Bernice was a strong willed woman who put family first. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family. She loved to travel, go dancing and do crocheting. She had created many special afghans for family and friends.

She is survived by her husband Darrell of Rochester, sons Ron (Gwen) of Rochester, Tim (Roxy) of Byron, Todd (Tara) of Byron, thirteen grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, sisters Lois Holets of Rochester, Idyell (Russell) Hasley of Rochester along with half-siblings from the Kruger family. She is preceded in death by her parents, a son Darrell Jr."Bill", a granddaughter Tammy Stewart, a brother Archie Kruger, two sisters Lucille Behnken and Gladys Shones and two half-brothers from the Kruger family.

A Funeral Mass for Bernice will be held at 10:30am on Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at St. Pius X Catholic Church with Rev. Paul Nelson officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00pm until 7:30pm on Monday, February 15, 2016 in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home, along with one hour prior to the Mass at church.
