Jr.
December 19, 1935 – July 24, 2017
Arthur Martinson Jr., 81, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 24, 2017 at Lake Winona Manor in Winona, Minnesota. He was surrounded by many loving family members and friends.
Art was born on December 19, 1935 in Winona, Minnesota to Arthur and LaVina (Moen) Martinson. He graduated from Winona Senior High School in 1953. On May 24, 1980 he married the love of his life, Patty Stevens. Her two sons, Troy and Jeff, became Art's fourth and fifth sons.
Art worked for IBM for more than 30 years, retiring at age 51, when he and Patty spent the next 15 years enjoying winters in Apache Junction, Arizona. They enjoyed flea markets, and formed many special friendships there. As a youth he was a member of the Dragons Car Club, he loved photography, woodworking and especially spending time with his children, grandchildren and many friends. Art was a meticulous person who had a place for everything. He and his wife Patty played Kismet every morning for 37 years, and he kept track of every game. Patty would like to thank Art's primary care provider Dr. Andrew Vaughan for always being there for both Art and Patty. We also want to thank the wonderful caregivers that lovingly cared for Art while he was at Lake Winona Manor.
Survivors include his wife Patty, five sons; Jeff (Kathy) Martinson of Rochester, Terry (Zee) Martinson of Kellogg and David (Angela) of Hagar City, WI, Troy (Libby) Amaris of Minneapolis and Jeff Amaris of Rochester; 12 grandchildren; Aaron, Abby, Ashley, Josh, Amanda, Heather and Brittany Martinson, and Jennifer, Jessica, Brendan, Maggie and Anna Amaris, and 9 great grandchildren.
