Born at Tachikawa Japan Air Force Base on August 16th 1959 to Daniel L and Loretta C Plevak. Anthony, known as Tony, was in a single car accident on June 19 in Winona County while driving to Milwaukee WI to visit a niece and her two little girls. Tony was the fifth of six children, spent his early years living on various Air Force bases, attended grade school and high school in St. Francis WI and afterward obtained a Bachelor's degree in psychology, and a Master's degree in education from the University of Wisconsin Stout. Tony moved to Rochester from Wisconsin in 2007 to help with the hospice care of his father.
Tony was witty, had a kind and loving heart, and loved animals. Tony was an avid reader and writer, a regular in several book clubs, as well as a frequent visitor to the Rochester Public Library. Tony enjoyed people of all age groups but was especially beloved by the young and the elderly.
Tony worked in various types of jobs including, group home counselor, teacher, chef, animal shelter caretaker, and lifeguard plus volunteer tutor at the local jail and supporter of a mental health advocacy group.
Tony is preceded in death by his brother Stephen Edward Plevak, his father Daniel Lawrence Plevak, and a nephew Elijah Eugene Plevak. He is survived by his mother Loretta C. Plevak (Rochester), four siblings Dr. David J (Marisa) Plevak(Rochester), Catherine A. (Paul) Hering (Minneapolis), Daniel G. (Deedra, deceased)Plevak (WI), Matthew F. (Lynelle) Plevak ( Rochester), a cousin, who lived with the family, Mary C. (Scott) Kleinschmidt (WI), along with many other beloved friends and family.
On Wednesday, June 25, there will be a 10AM visitation at St. Francis Parish (1114 3 rd St. SE; Rochester, MN 55904) with the Rev. Jose Morales officiating, followed by an 11AM Funeral Mass and a luncheon immediately afterward. Burial will be at a date to be determined.
