Annabelle Philis
Campion
August 31, 1930 – February 3, 2012
Annabelle Philis Campion, age 81, of Rochester, passed away on February 3, 2012 at her home in Rochester, surrounded by her children.
Annabelle Meurer was born on August 31, 1930 in Mankato, Minnesota to Stanley and Matilda "Tillie" Meurer. Annabelle attended St. Peter High School, and graduated from the St. Mary's School of Nursing. She worked at St. Mary's Hospital as a Registered Nurse in the 1950's until the birth of her daughter, when she became a full-time homemaker. On October 26, 1955, she married William "Bill" Campion in St. Peter, MN. Annabelle was an accomplished piano and organ player, who was known to be able to play-by-ear at a moment's notice. She enjoyed being a member of the St. Pius X Choir. Music was a very important part of Annabelle's life. She was constantly singing or humming a familiar tune. During her retirement, she worked part-time at Donaldson's Department Store in Rochester. She and her husband Bill enjoyed annual trips to Texas together. As Bill's health slowly declined, she made it her goal to make sure he was well cared for.
Survivors include her three children, Erin (Dana) Tompkins of Byron, Kerry (Theresa) Campion of Mound, MN and Fabian (Traci) Campion of River Falls, WI. A sister, Kathleen Simonett of Minneapolis, seven grandchildren, and one great-grandson.
She is preceded in death by her husband Bill, a sister, Cleo, and a granddaughter Elizabeth.
A funeral Mass for Annabelle will be held at 11:30AM on Wednesday, February 8, 2012 at St. Pius X Catholic Church with Rev. Charley Collins officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00PM to 8:00PM on Tuesday, February 7, 2012 at River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home and one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
