Ania M.
Swiergul-Tofil
June 27, 1964 – January 25, 2026
Ania Maria Swiergul-Tofil, age 61, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, January 25, 2026
She was born in Warsaw, Poland, where she spent her early life and came of age during a time of great social and political change. As a young woman, Ania was part of the Solidarity movement protests, standing alongside others who sought freedom, dignity, and a better future for their country. These experiences helped shape her strong sense of justice, empathy, and resilience—qualities she carried with her throughout her life.
Ania was a devoted wife and mother whose life centered around her family and close friends. One of her greatest goals was to create a home that was warm, welcoming, and accepting of everyone and she succeeded. She loved to cook and crochet, often sharing her creations with others, and she had a natural gift for making friends wherever she went. She will be remembered for her strength, sharp wit, warmth, and the deep love she had for those closest to her. Her presence and care touched everyone who knew her, and she will be deeply missed.
She is survived by her husband, Timothy Tofil, and her children, Filip Swiergul, Aniela Tofil, Adam Tofil, and Julianna Tofil. She is also survived by her nephew, Bartłomiej Gabrysiak. She was preceded in death by her sister, Małgorzata Świergul-Gabrysiak, and her parents, Adam Świergul and Anna Świergul.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 31, at 12:00 PM, with a one-hour visitation prior to the service, followed by a lunch at Oak Hills Wesleyan Church, located at 410 28th Street SW in Rochester, MN. An additional visitation will take place on Friday, January 30, from 4:00PM to 7:00 PM, also at Oak Hills Wesleyan Church. For those unable to attend in person, the funeral service will be live streamed at https://discoveroakhills.com
