Obituary

Alice Greene, 88, of Rochester, passed away peacefully after getting her angel wings on September 13th, at Methodist Hospital in Rochester.

Alice was born on December 24 th , 1936 to Paul and Mildred (Mahon) Adamson.  She grew up on the Adamson family farm in Byron, MN with her 11 brothers and sisters. She graduated from Lourdes High School in Rochester, MN in 1955.

At age 16, she met the love of her life, Maurice Greene, when they were both working at the laundromat at St. Mary's Hospital.  She and Maurice were married on September 8 th , 1956.  Maurice and Alice lived together in Byron for a few years before moving to Rochester.  After living in Rochester for several years, they built a home out on their 10-acre hobby farm.  After retirement, they moved back into Rochester.

Alice worked at Mayo Clinic in Rochester as a phlebotomist (taking blood). After retiring from Mayo Clinic, Alice enjoyed working at Blondell's gift shop where she loved picking out small gifts for the family and acquiring a lot of Beanie Babies and Hallmark Christmas ornaments.  She also volunteered at the Samaritan Bethany gift shop.

Maurice & Alice enjoyed golfing, going to the casinos and making lots of friends while wintering in Lake Havasu, AZ, Brownsville, TX and Gulf Shores, AL.

She loved playing euchre with the ladies at the VFW, watching football and gardening.   Alice was a great cook and loved making meals and spending time with the family.  Special times with Alice included a separate birthday party for her each year with the family.  Since her birthday was on Christmas Eve, it meant a lot of Christmas Eve mornings spent out for a breakfast birthday party or a pizza dinner before Christmas Eve with the whole family. She always loved opening her presents and eating her sweets.

She and Maurice were long-time members of Pax Christi Church.

Alice is survived by their son, Jeffrey (Teresa) of Byron, and daughter Karen (Tom) Taylor of Rochester; 4 grandchildren:  Paul (Tara) Greene, Nicole (John) Berschback, Jake (Haley) Taylor, and Brianna (Drew) Cooper and 9 great-grandchildren:  Ethan, Andrew, Jax, Logan, Will, Dylan, Taylor, Camille, and Zoe.  She is also survived by her siblings:  John (Carol) Adamson, Helen Wilde, Cathy Etchason, Phyllis (John) Wick, Theresa (James) Erickson, and Wayne (Pam) Adamson.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Maurice, her parents, and siblings:  Betty, Tom, Mary, Bob and Ron.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 29th in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home in Rochester. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Sunday evening, Sept. 28 th and 1 hour before the service at Macken.
